Chiropractic and Scoliosis & Postural Correction
It is common knowledge that good posture is related to good health. Whether it is from lifting incorrectly or hunched over a desk, everyone can recognise poor posture. However, only a few people have a real understanding of the importance and necessity of good posture.
Good posture is the alignment of body parts in such a way that there is evenly distributed pressure in the joints and is supported by the right amount of muscle tension against gravity. It is therefore very important to maintain good posture that places the least strain on supporting muscles and ligaments during movement and weight-bearing activities.
Poor posture can lead to excessive strain on our postural muscles and may even cause them to relax, when held in certain positions for long periods of time. For example, you can typically see this in people who bend forward at the waist for a prolonged time in the workplace. Their postural muscles are more prone to injury and back pain.
A chiropractor can help you correct your posture, recommend exercises to strengthen core postural muscles and help reduce risk of injury.
